background & experience

Kelly Maxwell began his career in electronics after graduating from high school in 1984. He pursued formal training at Clover Park Vocational Technical Institute (1984-1986) in basic and consumer electronics, followed by advanced studies at Renton Vocational Technical Institute (1986-1987). In April 1987, Maxwell was hired by Lunde Marine Electronics in Seattle, where he gained valuable experience under the mentorship of seasoned marine electronics technicians. During this time, he worked on various marine electronics systems, including SSB and VHF radios, fish finders, and radars. Notably, Maxwell contributed to the installation of a full marine electronics package on the “Amatuli” and the factory trawler “Starbound.”
In 1989, Maxwell briefly worked for David Gleaves Company, where he handled electrical projects on notable vessels, including wiring control panels for a new surimi plant aboard the “Pacific Orion.” He joined Harris Electric in February 1990, further refining his skills across a broad range of marine electronics systems, from crab catchers to factory trawlers operating in the Bering Sea. Maxwell specialized in weatherproofing installations and troubleshooting complex systems under extreme conditions. He also witnessed the technological evolution of marine plotters and navigational systems. Maxwell remained with Harris Electric until its closure in March 2018.

In August 2024, Maxwell was approached by Vision Electric Northwest, with an offer to merge Bering Pacific Marine Electronics into a new electronics division. This strategic partnership aimed to combine marine electrical and marine electronics services under one umbrella, reminiscent of the integrated approach used at Harris Electric. Maxwell began the transition to Vision Electric Northwest in September 2024.

the founder & company development
In July 2018, following the closure of Harris Electric, Kelly Maxwell founded Bering Pacific Marine Electronics. His company continued to serve a loyal client base, focusing on commercial fishing boats in Alaska, mega yachts, tugboats, and other vessels across the Pacific Northwest. Maxwell also collaborated with former Harris Electric colleagues on various projects, expanding his expertise to a diverse range of vessels.

“I look forward to sharing my 37+ years of experience on your vessel—whether you need help troubleshooting an issue or upgrading to new marine electronics.”
Kelly Maxwell
